Last year, audiences around the world were tapping their feet to the music of Queen, as the movie Bohemian Rhapsody became a worldwide smash hit.
But very soon, we could be singing along with classic songs like "My Heart Will Go On" and "All By Myself" in the theater. That's because a biopic about the life of Canadian singer Celine Dion is moving forward.
Dion has reportedly given her blessing to the movie, which is titled The Power of Love, and given producers the right to feature her songs.
And we already know who will fill the diva's shoes on the big screen: French actress Valerie Lemercier will play Dion and direct the new film. She seems like a good pick, because along with acting and directing, Lemercier also sings and dances.
But that introduces a hitch for Dion's American fans - The Power of Love is being made by a French production company, and the movie will probably be almost entirely in French. But if you're willing to read subtitles, it sounds like we're in for an entertaining trip through Dion's life.
The movie will chart the singer's rise to fame from her childhood in 1960s Quebec, Canada, and explore aspects of her life like teenage stardom, her relationship with her manager Ren Anglil, and even her recent residency in Las Vegas.
Lemercier said that she was inspired to make the film after reading about Dion's decades-long relationship with Anglil, and also Dion's relationship with her mother, Thrse.
"I discovered the strength of their love story and their great humor, and I better understood how the alchemy of their three individual ambitions made an unwanted, little girl the greatest star on the planet," she said.
Canadian actor Sylvain Marcel has already been cast as Anglil.
Gaumont, the production company behind the new movie, has compared the project to Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, the upcoming film about the life of Elton John.
As of now, The Power of Love is scheduled to hit theaters on December 2, 2020. Until then, I'll be standing in line in front of the theater, "All By Myself."
