For about two years now, Oprah Winfrey has been the face of Weight Watchers. Through her weight loss struggles, we've watched as Winfrey has worked to better herself. The talk show host, producer, and philanthropist says she was approached by Weight Watchers and was skeptical at first.
"Weight Watchers called me in like mid-July," she told Ellen DeGeneres. "We had our first meeting in August and they said, 'We would like you to come onboard our program and do what you do: self-empowerment, self-enrichment. We think that you can bring another level to us for Weight Watchers.' I said, 'I can't do it unless I actually go with the program. First of all, I've never endorsed anything. I've never been a spokesperson for anybody. So, I will have to do the program myself to see if I actually like those points, because I've been resistant to points.'"
Within two months, Winfrey had made a $43 million investment in the company, in exchange for 10% of the stake. Since starting her journey, Winfrey has lost over 40lbs, all while eating the foods she loves.
But now, in what appears to be an attempt to gain a younger audience, Weight Watchers has announced a new spokesperson that no one saw coming.
Weight Watchers announced that DJ Khaled, a singer, producer, and social media star, will be their newest spokesperson, who will be marketing the brand to millions of people on Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Khaled will be promoting the new Weight Watchers Freestyle program, which has more food options with fewer points attached to them. Fellow ambassador Oprah has already given Khaled a shout out on social media.
There's no word on monetary terms for this deal, but the plan is for Khaled to "document his experience and progress on the new WW Freestyle program," Weight Watchers said, "speaking candidly about how the program has given him the freedom and flexibility to make healthier choices while keeping up with his busy lifestyle."
Any time someone wants to make their life healthier, that's a good thing! Way to go, DJ Khaled!
