Talk about Hollywood history: it's not every day that a home hits the market with connections to Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, and even more stars.
But Byrdview, Sinatra's home in the L.A. hills, has seen dozens of huge stars walk through its doors over the decades. Now, even regular folks like us can tour the historic mansion, thanks to its real estate listing.
Ol' Blue Eyes' mansion is up for sale at $12.5 million, a hefty price tag that's easier to understand once you've toured the seven-acre property.
Nestled above the Chatsworth Reservoir, the hilltop home features sweeping views of the valley below (but no sight lines for nosy neighbors).
The mansion was built in 1949, and designed by well-known architect William Pereira. He included a number of luxurious touches, like a sunny outdoor pool deck, a shady seating area, and wall-length windows.
Today, Byrdview is still one of the country's most recognizable celebrity homes, thanks to the reputation it earned when Sinatra invited his Rat Pack pals over to party. (The home has parking space for over 100 people, so we bet Sinatra's guest list was packed with stars.)
Inside, the 6,600-square foot home has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and two half bathrooms for good measure. The home has, thankfully, been updated a few times since the 1960s, and looks charming with the modern furniture it holds today.
Sinatra spent parts of the "50s and "60s at Byrdview, but he's not the home's only claim to fame. Marilyn Monroe reportedly once lived in its guest house (which features its own wading pool), where she is rumored to have met with President Kennedy for a steamy affair.
The Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland also renewed her vows to director Vincente Minnelli on the property. And in recent years, it was also used as a set for period dramas like Mad Men and Dreamgirls.
While Byrdview is the gem of the property, there's room enough included in the parcel to build another mansion, or even a private vineyard, on the lot.
No matter who ends up buying this historic home, they'll be lucky to inherit its amazing legacy.
