If you're a longtime NCIS fan, then you've had to say goodbye to a number of your favorite characters these last few years.
First, Cote de Pablo, aka Ziva David, exited the show in season 11. Then Michael Weatherly, aka Agent DiNozzo, said goodbye in season 13, and Pauley Perrette, aka Abby Sciuto, bowed out after 15 seasons on the show.
Now, rumors are swirling that one more beloved character, Timothy McGee, played by Sean Murray, is soon to depart the show.
At the beginning of this season, the show's 16th, fans were already convinced that another series regular would be leaving.
The show's latest episode, which revealed McGee is being head-hunted by a tech company for a "multi-million dollar job," only made the audience more concerned that Murray could be preparing to leave.
After the episode, fans took to Twitter begging to hear that Sean Murray was staying put on NCIS for now.
"Oh no! McGee is NOT leaving NCIS! Please say it ain't so," one wrote.
Behind the scenes, there has been little to suggest that Murray will actually be departing the series, but that doesn't mean as much as it used to. After multiple characters left the show or were killed off in recent years, it feels like no one is safe anymore.
As far as we know, Murray, and McGee, will stick around for at least the rest of the 2019 season. But it's a scary thought that Leroy Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, could be the show's last agent leftover from the original cast anytime soon.
Harmon, at least, has told fans we won't be leaving the show anytime soon. His credit as a producer on a new series had some fans worried Harmon was done with NCIS, but he confirmed through his publicist that he had no plans to quit.
For the record, after 16 years on the air NCIS is still one of TV's most-watched shows, so don't expect it to end anytime soon. But then again, we thought the same thing about Criminal Minds.
