Doctors Order Justin Timberlake To Cancel Tour Dates

Justin Timberlake started off 2018 on a high note, as the singer performed in the Super Bowl 52 halftime show and topped the charts with his new record, Man of the Woods.

But Timberlake is closing out 2018 with an apology to fans, after cancelling all of his December tour dates.

The singer has been rescheduling his concerts since October while giving his bruised vocal cords time to recover, but as he revealed on Instagram this week he's still not ready to perform.

"My vocal cords are healing, but they are not all the way back to normal, so my doctors want me to continue to rest my voice," Timberlake told his fans.

"They have asked me to hold off on singing until next month. I'm really sorry, I want to be back on the stage and I am doing all I can to get there quickly."

This isn't the first time Timberlake has had to put his health before work. He also had an operation to remove benign growths called nodules from his vocal cords in 2005.

Shows bumped by Timberlake in his most recent announcement include dates in Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Uncasville, Connecticut, and a pair of shows in Buffalo, one of which was already rescheduled from an earlier date.

The singer is expected to finally hold the postponed shows in February and March, after resuming his tour in January.

While this is bad news for the former NSYNC member's fans, there's always a silver lining.

Wolf of Wall Street star Jonah Hill quickly volunteered to fill Timberlake's shoes on Instagram.

"I have decided to fill in got JT on his remaining dates," Hill wrote.

"It's what we do in our incredibly small circle of people with extraordinary voices. Feel better. I got you until you do."

Timberlake was actually grateful for the offer, and played along with the actor.

"I was gonna wait for my next post to unleash this wonderful news. BUT...you heard it here first," he wrote.

"Jonah crushes 'Mirrors' too so you guys are gonna LOVE IT. Thanks man!"
