Mario Lopez, or as he's known around here, the Ageless Wonder, is one of the most successful child actors of his generation. If I asked you to name someone from Saved By The Bell, you'd probably say Lopez first.
Now, he's a father of two who also hosts the daily entertainment show, Extra. Lopez is scandal-free, which is refreshing for a child star who grew up around the constant glamour of Hollywood. One thing that surely helped Lopez stay on the straight-and-narrow is his steady faith.
Lopez grew up in a Catholic family, and to this day he still goes to church every week.
"It's important for me that my kids have a faith-based education, so obviously they're in Catholic school," Lopez said in an interview. "I'm always proud to promote that I am Catholic. I think as I've gotten older, I've just tried to build a more spiritual muscle in a business that is very unpredictable. It's nice to have something that is consistent in our life " family and faith is that for me."
Just recently, Lopez traveled to Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, Mount of the Beatitudes, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Jordan River, where he experienced a Catholic ritual others could only dream of.
Lopez documented his trip to these religious landmarks on social medial, updating all his followers on the importance and spiritual meaning of each location.
"Visiting the Holy Land during Holy Week will change your thoughts about religion & spirituality," Lopez wrote. "When traveling it's important to keep an open mind & see what the world has to offer. Thank you Israel for an inspiring time..."
He even visited the birth place of Jesus Christ.
But the most impactful memory for Lopez was getting baptized in the Jordan River.
"This is where Jesus walked on water," Lopez said in his video. "And the River Jordan runs into the sea, and that's where, of course, Jesus got baptized, which I'm gonna be doing!"
He posted the video on Twitter, and the experience is truly mesmerizing.
Lopez's actions have been met with praise from his fans, who are thrilled to see him promoting his faith.
"I am very happy that you are one of the few in Hollywood to believe in Jesus Christ our saviour," Kevin Walker said. "God Bless you Mario and have a safe and loved filled Easter weekend!"
"Congrats! Will be praying for you as God has given you a tremendous platform to live out your faith. Blessings," Tony Pope echoed.
"Beautiful and inspiring! Keep sharing the amazing word of God," another fan said. "We need it now more than ever. 🕆congratulations on your new journey."
It is so refreshing to see a Hollywood star be so vocal and proud of his Catholic faith.
