Remember the McDonald's Dollar Menu? It's Coming Back In a Big Way

I know we were saddened the day in 2014 when McDonald's retired it's budget menu. No longer could you score a cheeseburger, fries and a drink with change to spare.

The McDonald's Dollar Menu used to offer a range of items including a McDouble Cheeseburger, 4 Chicken Nuggets or a large sweet tea for only $1 each.

The Golden Arches then experimented with other discount options including the McPick 2 for $5 in attempt to attract people back.

After the change, many of us tended to shy away from the Golden Arches with our bank accounts in mind, but a new announcement will bring the budget-conscious consumers back to the burger joint.

Everyone's favorite fast food chain will be making everyone McHappy with their latest announcement. Starting as soon as early 2018, they will be bringing back their Dollar menu with items priced at $1, $2, and $3.

McDonald's has admitted that they have struggled to get value-minded consumers back in their restaurants since discontinuing the menu three years ago.

"This perhaps is the biggest $MCD news in yrs & has been in development for a very long time," an account run by a McDonald's insider, under the title "McD Truth," tweeted.

While franchise owners have expressed frustration about maintaining profits under the dollar menu, almost 100% of stores have signed up to participate in the new program.

This won't be the same dollar menu as you remember, though. It will be revamped to show that it can keep up with the times- and our cravings.

This announcement comes two years after McDonald's unveiled their all-day breakfast, which has seemed to lure people back to the fast food giant.

In the past few years they have also launched McCafe coffee shop locations, and in 2016 the company revealed that it would start sourcing antibiotic and cage-free chickens.

The restaurant chain has also started working with a mobile ordering system, catching up to giants like Domino's and Starbucks.

But none of these changes really had the same magic as the dollar menu.

While details are scarce on what the menu will include, you can be sure that cheesburgers, fries and other basic menu items will somehow be involved.

"You have to have some everyday value because a decent portion of that business is very price-sensitive," said Michael Halen, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence.

Here's hoping for all-day $1 McGriddles!
